NetBotz Integrates Particulate Sensor Into Its Physical Security Monitoring Platform Dubai Internet City Uses Sensor to Protect IT Assets from Dust
AUSTIN, Texas - December 2nd, 2003 - NetBotz®, Inc., the global leader in IP-based intelligent physical security solutions, and recent winner of the Deloitte & Touch Rising Star Award, today announced customers can now connect an external particulate sensor, capable of measuring airborne particle levels as small as one micron, to their NetBotz 500 Physical Security Monitoring Appliance. This means that NetBotz users can now get instant alerts about the level of dust, smoke or other particulate penetration within their environmentally sensitive spaces such as data centers, telecommunications closets, hospital areas, process manufacturing floors and other sites.
The NetBotz 500 is the market's defining IP-based platform for securing people, places and assets against physical threats such as intrusion, sabotage and hostile environmental factors.
The company also announced that Dubai Internet City is now using the particulate sensor to protect all of its data centers and telecommunications closets. Dubai Internet City is the world's first free trade zone for IT and media and a strategic base for companies targeting emerging markets from the Middle East to the Indian subcontinent and beyond,
"Because high dust levels can create an electrostatic charge that can damage equipment and trigger false smoke alarms," said Mitch Medford, NetBotz CTO. "all locations that house IT assets are potentially at risk from the presence of dust. Dubai Internet City, which has dozens of distributed data centers and telecom closets, is no exception. They need an early warning system to alert when dust levels began to rise. The NetBotz solution does that by detecting when dust levels exceed thresholds, down to the micron level. Once a minute rise is detected, NetBotz sends an instant alert to appropriate personnel. Using NetBotz, Dubai Internet City will have the security they need to protect their enormous distributed IT investments, without hiring additional headcount."
Today's announcement is one in a recent series of extended capabilities NetBotz has developed for the NetBotz 500. This approach to IP-based physical security ensures that, as new threats emerge, customers can affordably and easily add on appropriate third party sensors and devices to their NetBotz 500 that will actively and instantly detect a physical threat and give immediate warning.
